Your account

Delete your account

You can delete your ContoZ account and everything in it whenever you want. Here's how to do it, and exactly what happens next.

01Delete in the app

The quickest way is right inside ContoZ:

    Open ContoZ and make sure you're logged in.

    On your chat screen, tap the Settings icon at the top right.

    Scroll to the bottom of Settings to Account Privacy.

    Tap Delete Account.
  5. 5
    Tap Delete to confirm.

You'll be logged out of every phone straight away. Your account is then kept safe for 15 days in case you change your mind, and permanently deleted after that.

Changed your mind?

Just log back in with the same phone number within 15 days. Your account comes back exactly as you left it, with your partner, chats and memories. For your safety, you can log in again 20 minutes after deleting.

02Can't open the app?

If you've uninstalled ContoZ or lost your phone, you can still ask us to delete your account. Email privacy@contoz.app with the subject "Delete my ContoZ account" and include:

  • The phone number you use to log in to ContoZ
  • Your ContoZ ID, if you know it

To keep your account safe, we'll confirm it's really you before deleting anything. We'll reply within 72 hours and complete the deletion within 30 days.

03What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove:

  • Your profile: name, photo, bio, email address, date of birth, phone number and ContoZ ID
  • Everything you shared: messages, photos, shared album, diary entries, notes, calendar dates and moods
  • Your location and battery information
  • Your logins and notification settings on every phone

Deletion is permanent. Once it's done, your account, chats and memories can't be recovered, even if you sign up again with the same number.

04What happens to your partner

For the 15 days, nothing changes for your partner. Once your account is deleted, your connection ends: the chats, photos, diary, notes and calendar you shared are deleted for both of you, and your partner can no longer see your profile or location.

If you only want to end the relationship and keep your account, you can disconnect from your partner in the app instead.

05What we may keep

Your account is permanently deleted 15 days after you ask, unless you log back in before then. Requests made by email are completed within 30 days. A copy may stay in our secure backups for up to 30 more days before it is erased automatically.

We only keep anything longer if the law requires it, for example to resolve a legal claim or prevent fraud, and only for as long as that need lasts. Read more in our Privacy Policy.

06Before you go

Just need a little break? You don't have to delete everything:

  • Turn off notifications in Settings for some quiet time.
  • Stop sharing your location from your phone's settings.
  • Simply log out. Your account will be here when you're ready.
